Senior Mechanical Engineer

Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering, this position is responsible for performing professional level mechanical engineering assignments of a high degree of complexity with general direction. The successful candidate will be able to perform analysis, design, and modification of new or existing products up through the finished product level and apply industry and design principles to assigned tasks.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching new mechanical engineering practices, procedures, and tools to maintain proficiency and experience with emerging technologies.

  • Designs and executes layouts of complex products and equipment. Complexity of assignments requires considerable initiative, latitude, and independent judgment.

  • Performs original design work after receiving the design goal or problem, general method of processing, and engineering advice.

  • Documenting projects and writes releases, ECOs, procedures and other test and verification documents as required in conformance with FDA standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Training, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Requires BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and 5 to 10 years' experience with increasing levels of responsibility in development of large capital equipment medical devices or semiconductor industries

  • Experience in design of precision mechanism and machine design is essential · Strong analytic, technical and problem-solving skills

  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.

  • Demonstrate ability to adjust and adapt to changing work priorities.

  • General knowledge of machine shop and welding process

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English.

  • Proficient in SolidWorks

  • Knowledge of GD&T and drafting practices.

  • Proficient with large assemblies, configurations, properties and drawing.
